A 21-year-old has not returned from a paddling tour in Lake Constance. The police can’t find the young man and are now expecting the worst.

A missing paddler has in all probability drowned in Lake Constance. That shared the Austrian police on Saturday. The 24-year-old man was out on stand-up paddle boards with another young man on Thursday. Since then he has been considered missing and has not yet been found. His smartphone and his board were located. The police rescued the companion.

At wind force six, the two young men were driven far from the Vorarlberg part of the lake shore. The missing 24-year-old had a smartphone with him from which he made an emergency call. According to the police, a third man, who belonged to the group but stayed on the bank, only became aware of the danger when he saw the rescue workers. Originally it was said that he too was on the lake.

Several boats, a police helicopter and a diving robot were used to find the 24-year-old. Now the area would only be driven off sporadically, the police said.
