It’s Saturday afternoon – a child’s birthday party in a boathouse on the lake. Suddenly something incredible happens: a car crashes into the house. Children die. Was the driver drunk?

A young pair of siblings died in the USA when a driver hit their car Car crashed into a boat club where a children’s birthday party was being celebrated. The eight-year-old and her five-year-old brother died at the scene of the accident, as several US media reported, citing the police.

Nine people were taken to hospitals with life-threatening injuries, including three children. Helicopters were also used. The 66-year-old driver of the car was arrested. She is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle drove a good 7.5 meters into the building before coming to a stop.

First responders described the scenes at the scene as “extremely chaotic, with a high level of emotion.” It was initially unclear how many people were in the boat club on Lake Erie, around 50 kilometers south of Detroit in the state of Michigan. The accident occurred on Saturday afternoon.

“Please keep everyone affected in your thoughts and prayers. We thank everyone for their condolences and prayers,” the boat club wrote on its Facebook page.
