In the Wetterstein Mountains, a 28-year-old died in a mountaineering accident on the Jubilee Ridge. The man fell about 350 meters in steep and rocky terrain, the police said on Saturday evening.
The 28-year-old was therefore on Saturday afternoon with a companion in wintry conditions from the Zugspitze summit in the direction of the Alpspitze when he suddenly crashed into the Höllental on the north side. The man probably stepped on a snowdrift, which gave way under his weight, it said.
The emergency doctor brought to the scene of the accident by rescue helicopter could only determine the death of the 26-year-old. According to the police, the climber is said to have been experienced and well equipped.
