Accident at the bottleneck of K2: could mountaineer Hassan have been helped? -Panorama

A Pakistani porter has died on K2 as several climbers passed him. Would he have been helped if he had been a western climber?

Muhammed Hassan is below the “bottleneck”, the most dangerous part of the second highest mountain in the world at 8,611 meters. He is wearing black pants and a yellow down jacket. Dozens of people climb over it on their way to the top of K2. He’s alive, he’s moving his legs. But nobody helps him. Drone footage by German filmmaker Philip Flaeming captures these final moments in the life of Muhammed Hassan. On July 27, the climber crashed on K2 at around 2:15 a.m. and died hours later.
