Almost 100 meters long and a good ten meters wide – the carpet over which the stars of Hollywood will strut on Sunday at the 96th Academy Awards has been rolled out. This year again in red.

A few days before the Oscar gala, the red carpet is open Hollywood’s big show has been rolled out. Dozens of camera teams and photographers followed the traditional “roll out” (local time). On Sunday, the stars and Oscar guests walk along to the entrance to the Dolby Theater, where the trophies will be awarded for the 96th time (on Monday night CET).

Last year, the Film Academy caused a surprise with a color change. The promenade was decorated in “champagne” color. The reason given at the time was to give the stars’ show a glamorous touch. But now the carpet is back in a bright red – to the delight of many onlookers.

Tour guide Gregg Donovan followed the spectacle. He held a sign that said “Bring back the red carpet!” (Bring back the red carpet!) in hand. The champagne color last year was terrible, Donovan said. “It’s as if silver Oscar statues were suddenly handed out instead of gold,” joked the American. “Thank God the red carpet is back.”

Almost 100 meters long and a good ten meters wide, the carpet covers a section of the otherwise busy Hollywood Boulevard. Dozens of helpers will install the famous catwalk by Sunday, trimming edges and welding seams. Barriers and stands will be set up for fans and the press.
