The rock veterans AC/DC are back on top – twice. Thanks to the re-release of their back catalog on vinyl.

AC/DC have won the battle for the most willing to pay fans of the week – by far. The hard rock veterans are celebrating their 50th anniversary by re-releasing their back catalog on vinyl. And the idea finds grateful buyers in the German album charts, as current statistics show.

As GfK Entertainment reports, nine of the AC/DC records have entered the Official German Charts. “Back in Black”, already one of the best-selling albums of all time, was able to reach first place in the German album charts for the first time 44 years after its release. The cult album is not alone: “Highway To Hell” is in second place. This makes the hard rock band around singer Brian Johnson (76) the first act since Michael Jackson (1958-2009) 15 years ago to claim dual leadership.

Things remain tough in third place too: Judas Priest reigns supreme here with “Invincible Shield”. The heavy metal band’s 19th studio album took first place last week and now had to give way to AC/DC. A new album also made it into the top 5 this week: Justin Timberlake (43) climbs to fifth place with “Everything I Thought It Was”. Ahead of him, rapper Kontra K (36) took fourth place with “Nobody steals hope from me.”

Nothing happens in the singles charts

Surprisingly, nothing has changed in the German single charts: Just like last week, Benson Boone (21) is at number one with “Beautiful Things”, Cyril is at number two with “Stumblin’ In” and Herbert Grönemeyer (67) with his colleague $oho Bani (25) and the song “Time for something to turn” in third place. Beyoncé (42) made herself comfortable in fourth place with her country song “Texas Hold ‘Em” and Bennett (27) completed the top 5 with the techno mix of “Vois sur ton chemin”.
