A99: truck driver overlooks the end of the traffic jam – district of Munich

Because he apparently recognized the end of a traffic jam too late, a truck driver from Lower Bavaria crashed his truck into a trailer truck loaded with iron on Tuesday afternoon and was seriously injured. As reported by the Hohenbrunn motorway police, the 42-year-old from Lower Bavaria was traveling on the A 99 in the direction of the Munich-North motorway junction when he braked too late at around 11.45 a.m. between the Hohenbrunn and Haar junctions.

According to the fire brigade, the force of the impact ripped off the entire driver’s cab and threw the driver onto the road. The 42-year-old was then flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter. The 25-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries.

All lanes were blocked by scattered cargo and leaking diesel fuel. The main lane had to be closed for several hours, and there were massive disruptions to the north. According to the police, damage to property amounted to at least 150,000 euros.
