A 79-year-old driver and her 12-year-old grandson were slightly injured in a spectacular accident on the A8 on Saturday morning. According to the Holzkirchner motorway police, the pensioner from Munich was driving in the left lane towards Salzburg at around 7.15 a.m. near Brunnthal and realized too late that the traffic was backing up in front of her. Although she tried to dodge, she crashed into the stationary car in front of her.
As a result of the violent impact, her car overturned and flew five meters through the air before it came to a stop on its wheels in the right lane across the road. Grandma and grandchildren were taken to a clinic in Munich. The material damage to both vehicles is estimated at a total of around 15,000 euros. To recover the two vehicles, the right lane had to be closed for an hour and a half, which is why traffic was partially backed up as far as the A 99.
