The A1 near Neuenkirchen-Vörden is freely passable again. The route to Bramsche had been closed since Friday evening because a bridge was demolished. There were massive traffic delays.

On Saturday, some road users with intentional misconduct caused chaos and dangerous situations – the police said. She had previously asked for the blockage to be bypassed over a wide area. According to the information, several trucks parked on the hard shoulder and thus narrowed the access to the construction site. Heading north, several road users also illegally drove backwards over the hard shoulder of the motorway in order to get behind the blockage back to the Bramsche junction.

Bridge landed on sand

On Saturday, excavators demolished the bridge over the highway. The structure landed on a bed of sand. This should protect the roadway from damage. The crossing directly at the Neuenkirchen-Vörden junction has to be rebuilt because the motorway is currently being widened to six lanes.
