A young Var resident sentenced for advocating terrorism after pro-Hamas tags

A 25-year-old Var resident was sentenced this Monday for advocating terrorism and damage to property by the Toulon court, reports Var Morning. The young man, a history graduate, was caught by the police following a quick investigation after having spray-painted messages of support for Hamas and Palestine on the walls of the towns of Toulon and Ollioules.

“Long live Hamas”, “Palestine will conquer”, “Free George Abdallah”… the content of the messages testifies to a certain knowledge of the history of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict which has lasted for almost eighty years. Explicit support for Hamas falls under the umbrella of apologizing for terrorism. The young man was also logically convicted of damage to property. The graffiti artist left the court with a six-month prison sentence with suspended probation as well as one hundred and twenty hours of community service to complete.
