A young man killed with a knife in a brawl, two seriously injured

A 16-year-old boy was killed and two men seriously injured in the night from Saturday to Sunday during a brawl on the sidelines of a “private party” in Crépol, a small town in Drôme, we learned from prosecutors and firefighters.

“In the middle of the night, a group of individuals from outside Crépol” tried to join “a private party” in the community hall of the town, which they were barred from entering by a security guard, explained to AFP the Valencia prosecutor, Laurent de Caigny.

The security guard was “wounded with a stab”. While he was in “difficulty”, people left the party and “a general brawl ensued”, said the prosecutor. A teenager died following “a stab wound” while he was on his way to Lyon hospital, said the public prosecutor and firefighters.

Two young men were hospitalized in an “absolute emergency”, according to emergency services who arrived on the scene shortly after two in the morning. One of them, aged 28, received “stab wounds to the chest”. The second is 23 years old. A third person, initially declared in absolute emergency, saw his condition improve.

Six other people were injured on the outskirts of the “winter ball” which brought together 350 people. The commune of Crépol has 532 inhabitants. Emergency services counted 17 “victims, taken part in” in the brawl. They are between 16 and 65 years old, for the majority of men. In all, 39 firefighters intervened to rescue people on site. The investigation was entrusted to the gendarmerie. No arrests have taken place at this stage.
