To the police officers who questioned them, the two men explained that they were near the scene when they were alerted by a noise that made them think of an explosion. According to their story, it was only once there that they discovered that it was the mother of one of them. It was then that they decided to transport her to the hospital themselves.
“Things are confusing”
Noting numerous inconsistencies in their story, investigators finally took the two men into custody for “attempted homicide”. The victim’s son, aged 30, is known to the police, unlike his 28-year-old friend. The weapon has not been found.
Initial findings revealed traces of blood in the lobby of the building in which the victim lives, in the immediate vicinity of where she was found. “As it stands, things are confused,” specifies the public prosecutor of Meaux, Jean-Baptiste Bladier.
