A teenager dies in a bicycle accident under a tunnel, another in very serious condition

A 16-year-old teenager died this Wednesday afternoon in Lyon, while another, of the same age, is in a state of absolute emergency, we learned from the Rhône firefighters, confirming information from BFM Lyon.

Emergency services were called at 5:22 p.m. for an accident reported under the rue Terme tunnel, a structure connecting the bottom of the slopes to the Croix-Rousse hill. “When we arrived on site, there were two injured people on the road at the bottom of the tunnel and a bicycle next to it,” says a rescuer. It is assumed that they must have been on the same bike going downhill, but only the investigation will make it possible to determine this. » At this stage, no other vehicle appears to be involved in this accident.

The first boy victim died at the scene. The second was urgently transferred to Édouard Herriot hospital. This Wednesday evening, the tunnel, access to which is prohibited for cyclists and pedestrians, was still closed to traffic.
