A suspect arrested after the death of a railway worker intoxicated by a drink containing cocaine

A month after the death of a railway worker, who had drunk an abandoned drink in which there was cocaine, a suspect was arrested. A 32-year-old man, born in Suriname, was arrested on Tuesday, according to information from RMC.

On April 3, the SNCF agent had a convulsion, a few minutes after tasting a drink in an abandoned bag in the hall of Saint-Etienne station and brought back by a passerby. The bag in question contained two large cubis displaying, for one, the mention “mojito”, and for the other, “rum”.

Instead of “placing” the luggage “with found objects”, four SNCF agents “decided to consume it”, specified the prosecution at the time. If the “rum” bag contained an alcoholic drink, the one that bore the inscription “mojito” contained liquid cocaine. The officer who drank it first spat out, telling his colleagues not to touch it, but suddenly fell ill and died.

Links with Guyanese traffickers?

The suspect was identified thanks to the images of the CCTV cameras of the station on which he was seen depositing the bag, before taking a train in the direction of Lyon. During the search, the judicial police investigators found at his home the same clothes as those they were wearing that day. They also seized a bottle of rum of the same brand as the cans containing the cocaine. And bearing a similar inscription.

Placed in police custody, the man is suspected of having links with Guyanese traffickers.
