A shopping center without shops, the new concept of Vill’Up, in La Villette

Been to Vill’Up? Maybe not, and it’s not surprising: this shopping center, nestled in the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in La Villette, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, has never been very successful. It is for this reason that its promoter, the Apsys group, will transform it into a leisure centre.

This new concept will revolve around three areas, explains the group, joined by 20 minutes : “Leisure, food and events”. A way to better integrate into its environment at La Villette. The group’s objective is neither more nor less to create the largest “food & leisure market in Paris”, announces the firm. We should find there in particular bowling, climbing and an immersive theater.

Opening mid-2023

“The Pathé cinema complex is undoubtedly the most successful in the capital and the free fall simulator that we have installed on site is a real success, but on the commercial side it has never really worked”, admits Maurice Bansay in Le Figaro Real Estate.

Shops are closed and work has started, according to Le Figaro. The opening of the new Vill’up is scheduled for the 2nd quarter of 2023, announces the Apsys group. The design will be signed by the Malherbe agency.
