A series of arrests in connection with the damage to the Lafarge cement plant

Fourteen people were taken into police custody on Tuesday in the investigation into the action carried out on December 11 against the Lafarge cement factory in Bouc-Bel-Air (Bouches-du-Rhône) by climate activists, said Tuesday the parquet floor in Aix-en-Provence. Some of these arrests took place in Loire-Atlantique, in particular in the former ZAD of Notre-Dame-des-Landes.

They target people suspected of “degradation in a gang organized by dangerous means”, “degradation in a meeting” and “criminal association”, specified the prosecution of Aix-en-Provence, confirming information from the daily The world. Thirteen people were placed in police custody in Levallois-Perret (Hauts-de-Seine) and another “outside” the Paris region, according to the same source. About fifteen people had already been arrested in this case on June 5.

The Earth Uprisings in the crosshairs

According The world, the arrests of this Tuesday would concern far-left activists close to the collective Les Uprisings of the Earth. The organization had welcomed the action against Lafarge, described as “cement-polluter”, without claiming it. She is also involved in the violent demonstration against the mega basins in Sainte-Soline, as well as, recently, in the degradations committed against Nantes market gardeners in order to denounce their use of water.

This collective, within which are former active members of the fight against Notre-Dame-des-Landes airport, is today threatened with imminent dissolution by the government.
