A Secours populaire warehouse burgled near Grenoble

A Secours populaire warehouse was broken into on Saturday in Echirolles (Isère), causing damage to the association estimated at around 300,000 euros, we learned on Sunday from reliable sources.

“While the supported families need the most help, the association is affected right at the heart of its collection and redistribution system,” laments the Isère branch of the association in a press release, which says it has been alerted by the police of the “mischief”.

“Everything is trashed”

“Our pallets of donations intended for families supported by our association were looted. Everything is trashed,” explains the secretary general of Secours populaire français, Nabil Chetouf, in the document.

“Who can do that when the end-of-year holidays are starting? », adds the manager, hoping that “the collection and redistribution capacities” of the association “will not be too impacted”.

Damage estimated at 300,000 euros

“The head of Secours populaire who went to the scene estimated the damage at 300,000 euros,” indicated the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office. “Two new vans” from the association were also “damaged”, according to the same source.

To recover from the situation as quickly as possible, the Secours populaire de l’Isère launched both “a call for witnesses” to help with the police investigation but also “a call for solidarity” among “individuals , businesses, institutions, communities.”

The association wanted to “reassure the supported families” by keeping its “solidarity spaces” open despite this situation.
