The phrase “you’re more [sic] like Samuel Paty fdp [ « fils de pute »] » was written on the wall of the establishment on December 17, with the teacher’s first name. In October, this teacher gave a course which gave rise to very lively discussions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, writes the media.
Asked, the Versailles rectorate confirms the incident and indicates that its teacher “benefits from functional protection”, a system which guarantees in particular legal assistance, and that the teacher in question “wishes to return to high school after the end of term holidays year “. “The Versailles Academy condemns the comments made against this professor and is putting in place all the support he will need,” specifies the rectorate, which indicates that it is in “regular contact” with him.
Physical and verbal attacks
This new incident occurs in a tense context in educational establishments, a little more than two months after the assassination of the French teacher stabbed to death in Arras (Pas-de-Calais) on October 13, and three years after the assassination from history professor Samuel Paty in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines).
Several physical and verbal attacks against school staff have taken place in recent weeks, notably in Yvelines, where a student from a private high school was arrested on December 17 for having insulted and threatened to kill his mathematics teacher on Instagram. A few days earlier in Rennes, a 12-year-old schoolgirl known for behavioral problems had threatened a teacher, armed with a knife, before being overpowered. The incident aroused strong emotion within the educational community and among public opinion.
