Mail delivery was suspended this Tuesday in the Domfront-en-Poiraie sector, not far from Flers (Orne). According to our colleagues of Free Publisher, a psychological unit was opened by the management of the Normandy Post Office to welcome bereaved employees. On Monday, one of their colleagues lost her life in a work accident in the neighboring town of Champsecret.
While she had parked her vehicle at the top of a hill, the postwoman was apparently crushed by it while she tried to stop her reversing. According to witnesses interviewed by the gendarmes, the vehicle backed up on its own, suggesting the absence of a handbrake. According to our colleagues, the Post Office employee who was carrying out her mail delivery round slipped while trying to get back into the car, before being crushed. She was 55 years old.
