The prefect of the Oise announced on Tuesday, in a press release, that research was undertaken in Beauvais, after the report of a person fallen in the river, the Thérain, during a “torrential storm”, in the night from Monday to Tuesday. Following a testimony, “significant resources are mobilized to find her: divers, handlers and drones equipped with thermal cameras”.

The press release specifies that a crisis unit to coordinate the emergency response has been activated and nearly 600 interventions have been initiated, including 412 in Beauvais, 92 in Tillé and 57 in Auneuil. The thunderstorm, which occurred between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Monday, brought in between 35 and 60 mm of rain locally.

Heavy flooding made roads impassable and several homes and public buildings were affected. The Beauvais hospital, in particular, suffered significant flooding but without a power cut. A plane which was supposed to land at Beauvais was diverted to Lille airport due to the rainy episode, but the airport was not affected. The meteorological episode ended on Tuesday morning but other precipitation is expected from 7 a.m., with less intensity.
