A peak of 155 km/h in the Landes, and 12,000 homes deprived of electricity

The new depression which followed storm Ciarán last night mainly affected the Aquitaine coast (Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques). In the Landes, 155 km/h was recorded in Biscarrosse overnight, according to Météo France. Winds of 90 to 110 km/h were also recorded inland.

The Sdis des Landes teams “were mobilized for around fifty interventions just like the soldiers of the national gendarmerie” indicated this Friday morning the prefecture. Two accidents were recorded causing minor injuries who were treated. Some 8,000 homes are also without electricity in the department. “Enedis teams are working to restore the network during the day,” specifies the prefecture. Several departmental roads remain closed to traffic.

4,000 homes deprived of electricity in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques

In the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, we recorded 106 km/h in Oloron. This Friday morning, there were 4,000 homes without electricity, the majority of which were in Béarn. The preventive closure protocol for the Corniche road was also activated on Thursday, to avoid any risk of collapse. The axis between Ciboure and Hendaye remains closed for an indefinite period.

In Gironde, the intensity of the storm seems to have been less than what was feared, even if we still recorded 109 km/h in Belin-Beliet. The prefecture reported this Friday morning that a tree “fell on a 50,000 volt line in Laruscade, causing 200 homes to lose power overnight and the D2010 to be cut off during the intervention. » Electricity will be restored at the end of the morning. In Mérignac, “an intervention took place to empty a retention basin which threatened to flood the parking lot of the “Béatrice” residence, however no damage was reported. » After being placed on orange vigilance during the night, the Gironde department returns to yellow vigilance for the risks of wind, waves-submersion, storms and rain-flooding.

Météo-France announces that “gusts of 80 to 100 km/h will still be possible this Friday in the southwest with heavy rain. » A new depression, Domingos, is expected on the Atlantic coast for Saturday.
