A new cloud of sand on the way (and the pollution peak that goes with it)

Take out the sponges to clean windshields and smartphones to immortalize the beautiful ocher skies. For the fourth time in less than two months, a southern flow loaded with Saharan dust crosses the Pyrenees. The phenomenon is expected to continue until Friday according to experts from
Weather Pyrenees which publishes the first photos of milky sky turning pink above the massif.

It’s beautiful, but not great for the lungs. Atmo Occitanie announces an episode of fine particle pollution underway this Wednesday in the Hautes-Pyrénées and which must continue tomorrow.

No physical effort for fragile people

“This episode has its origin in the presence of an air mass loaded with desert particles combined with local emissions of particles (wood heating, burning)”, specifies the Regional Air Observatory in Occitanie

The frail people – pregnant women, patients suffering from cardiovascular or respiratory pathologies, asthmatic children – must limit their physical efforts and move away from the main roads.
