A merry-go-round accident at Luna Park in Cap d’Agde leaves one dead and one seriously injured

The Luna Park funfair, located on the Ile des Loisirs in Cap d’Agde, froze in horror in the middle of the night. A serious accident affected one of its main attractions, the Adrénaline, causing one death and one serious injury, according to information from the Free lunch. Around 1:30 a.m., the nacelle on which two people sit before being placed 60 m high and then released into the void would have hit one of the posts of the structure, projected by a gust, while the wind was blowing over 80 km/h.

On the basket were a 17-year-old young man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Agde. The head of the teenager would have violently struck one of the posts of Adrénaline. He could not be revived by the emergency services, which intervened quickly. The young woman, seriously injured, was rushed to hospital.

The carousel was closed and placed under judicial seal, pending a technical expertise carried out under the authority of the Béziers prosecutor, according to the Free lunch. An accident had already concerned the Luna Park Adrenaline: in 2019, after a controlled fall at 110 km/h, the nacelle got stuck several meters high. While trying to get out, a man in his fifties had fallen heavily, his head hitting the asphalt. He had been hospitalized to place several stitches. Luna Park will reopen its doors to partygoers this Sunday evening, without Adrenaline.
