A phenomenon which should strengthen this night. It is the department ofHérault, located in the axis of the vein of strong winds, which will be most affected by the phenomenon. It was placed in orange alert for the “wave submersion” risk. The departments ofAudeof Gard and Bouches du Rhône are impacted to a lesser extent by the surges of these strong waves from the East to the South-East, combined with high sea levels, and placed on yellow level wave-submersion alert, forecasters detail. On the other hand, strong easterly winds generate an east to north-east swell propagating to the coast of the Roussillonplaced on wave-submersion alert at yellow level.

10 days of rain

But this is clearly only the beginning. Indeed, the different models predict rain at least until the month of April: 10 days of rain according to La Chaîne Météo which suggest accumulations “abundant almost everywhere”specifies meteorologist Guillaume Séchet.

“Situation favorable on Saturday for showers and thunderstorms in Occitania in the north-east”predicts Extreme Weather. “Heavy stormy rain possible in the south-eastern quarter. Significant deterioration possible on Sunday in the second part of the day from the west and south, with sometimes sustained stormy rain”.

We are far from finished with bad weather. With more than a week to go, very significant amounts of rain are expected in almost all regions. Knowing that the disrupted period could extend beyond that.

Good news and bad news for drought-stricken regions like the Eastern Pyrenees. Because the accumulations are such that forecasters agree that the risk of raw is important. “Increasingly widespread river flooding and flooding seems likely as the days go by”confirms Extreme Weather.
