A man interned after threatening to kill Édouard Philippe

The facts go back more than a year when Édouard Philippe was still Prime Minister. Suffering from psychiatric disorders, a man in his fifties had sent an email to the current mayor of Le Havre to threaten him with death,
report West France. In 2012, the individual had already been convicted of similar acts against the former President of the Republic Nicolas Sarkozy.

Tried before the Rennes Criminal Court on October 7, the individual was found guilty but declared criminally irresponsible. The court then ordered compulsory hospitalization for five years. Tuesday, the Rennes Court of Appeal, which was reviewing the case, confirmed this decision and ordered the placement of the fifty-year-old in a psychiatric unit for a period of five years.
