The scene is all the more shocking as it took place in the city center of Nantes. A 25-year-old man was rescued by Loire-Atlantique firefighters overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday after being hit by a gunshot. The pick-up took place at Place du Commerce, shortly after 1 a.m., reports the departmental fire and rescue service (Sdis). Injured in the head, the victim was transported in “absolute emergency” to the nearby Nantes University Hospital.
The circumstances of the shooting are unknown at this time. The sector, however, had to be secured by the police because of “the aggressiveness of the public”, specify the firefighters.
Place du Commerce and its surroundings have been largely redeveloped. The inauguration of the new pedestrian complex took place in May. A work from Voyage à Nantes will be installed there this summer.
