A man arrested for seriously injuring his partner by biting her in the face

A 47-year-old man was arrested Saturday afternoon in Garges-lès-Gonesse (Val-d’Oise) for seriously injuring his partner by biting her in the face. Called for a woman who was screaming, the police intervened shortly before 3 p.m. in a building and discovered a victim with what a police source described as an “extremely serious injury” on the face.

According to initial findings, the woman – whose identity and age were not immediately determined – was bitten for an unknown reason in the face by her partner during a “savage attack”, after the floor. “We quickly see that she is in serious physical condition. She has significant wounds on her face, pieces are gone, an ear seems to have been torn off,” the prosecution told AFP, specifying that no weapon was found on site. The woman was taken to Gonesse hospital for treatment. His vital prognosis is not in jeopardy.

The femicide protocol activated

According to what the victim said to the police on site, her partner had been making incoherent and delusional comments for some time, the prosecution reported. However, she could not be formally heard due to her condition. The responders discovered the couple’s two children, aged 6 and 10, on the balcony. It was not immediately clear whether they had witnessed the scene.

The public prosecutor’s office activated the femicide protocol so that a temporary placement order could be issued for the two minors and they would undergo a medical and psychological examination. The accused must be examined by a doctor to verify the compatibility of his condition with police custody. The investigation is entrusted to the Sarcelles police station.
