A fourth dead in the Bastia apartment massacre

The man discovered Monday evening seriously injured in an apartment in Bastia alongside two deceased men and a woman finally succumbed to his injuries, we learned on Wednesday from the Bastia prosecutor’s office.

This man in his forties, whose vital prognosis was “very serious” on Tuesday, died, Jean-Philippe Navarre, the public prosecutor of Bastia, told AFP, confirming information from Corsica-Morning.

Led by a local resident, the police made the macabre discovery on Monday around 7 p.m. Among the three deceased people, apparently dead “following the use of a firearm”, was “the official tenant of the accommodation”, the magistrate specified.

No preferred investigation hypothesis at the moment

“Aged in their forties, the four victims were known to the legal authorities and one of them for the use of narcotics,” he added Tuesday afternoon in a press release.

The police custody of “two people close to the victims” was lifted on Wednesday evening “without prosecution”, the prosecutor told AFP. The magistrate had clarified a little earlier in the day that no judicial investigation had been opened at this stage.

The investigation, into intentional homicide, was entrusted to the Bastia judicial police.

“The context of the facts remains undetermined and no investigation hypothesis is favored,” he insisted on Tuesday.

The apartment was often noisy
