A network of drug trafficking, including cocaine, between the Netherlands and the Alpes-Maritimes was dismantled by the Nice judicial police. At the head of this network, a man in his forties imprisoned in Pontet prison, in the Vaucluse, in particular for acts of antecedent drug trafficking.
This long-term survey, which began around Christmas 2019, identified several dozen trips between the Netherlands and the Alpes-Maritimes, via the Paris region, that is to say a traffic of “several hundred kilos in total, at a rate of 5 to 10 kg per trip, ”said divisional commissioner Florent Mion.
Several indictments for drug trafficking in an organized gang
During two field operations, on June 8 and 21, a total of 18 people were arrested, in the Paris region and in the Alpes-Maritimes, including six women, mostly assigned to roles of “nurses” or vehicle drivers. for transfers or deliveries.
Of the 12 people arrested on June 8, 11 were indicted for drug trafficking in an organized gang and criminal association and ten imprisoned. Of the six arrested on Monday, five should be indicted on the evening of Friday, after having been presented to the magistrates of the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction of Marseille (JIRS) dealing with this case.
This investigation, which also involved the narcotics brigade and the Alpes-Maritimes Research and Intervention Brigade, led to the seizure of 6.5 kg of cocaine in total, some twenty kilos of cannabis resin, as well as around 60,000 euros in cash and three weapons.
