A city deprograms a play by Pierre Palmade

The 15,000 inhabitants of the town of Fameck in Moselle will be deprived of the show scheduled for March 10. The city of Fameck has indeed decided to deprogram They love each other !a play co-written by comedian Pierre Palmade after the accident he caused under the influence of cocaine and the investigation into the possession of child pornography images targeting him, the mayor said on Friday.

The decision to deprogram the cult piece They love each other !, written in 1996 with Muriel Robin, was taken unanimously by the municipal office of the city, explained Michel Liebgott, the mayor, recalling that the city of Montargis (Loiret), which was to host the same show, took a similar decision. The show, played by a Parisian troupe, was to be held in the Victor-Hugo municipal hall in this city located north of Metz.

“Surprised” and “shocked”

At first “surprised” and “shocked (…) by what happened”, explains the mayor, the “evolutions” of the case “seemed to us a little worrying, like the use of cocaine. I am in a city where there is a sensitive urban area, one cannot advocate on the one hand the fight against narcotics (…) and at the same time not worry [du fait] than an artist [en] uses, with the consequences that it can have, ”argued the chosen one. The mayor also mentioned the investigation for possession of child pornography images targeting the comedian to justify the choice of his municipality. The play has been replaced by another show to be performed by the same troupe, he added.
