Two people are in police custody on Sunday for “murder” after the discovery, during the night, of the body of a fifty-year-old in his stairwell, carrying wounds evocative of “stab wounds”, we learned at the Douai public prosecutor’s office (North). The victim, a father born in 1966, lived in this “residential building” in the Roseraie district of Douai. His body has “wounds that may suggest stab wounds” or made using “another blunt object”, prosecutor Frédéric Fourtoy told AFP.
After initial findings by the Douai police station, the prosecution “opened an investigation for intentional homicide, entrusted to the Lille judicial police”. “A couple” composed of a man and a woman, were placed in police custody, continued the prosecutor, without further details on their profile. They remain at this stage “presumed innocent”, he stressed. “The investigation will have to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. We are not favoring any track at this stage, ”he said.
