a 150-hectare fire in progress in Mano, about fifteen homes evacuated

A large force was deployed including a Dash plane, water bomber helicopters and 240 firefighters. In detail, 22 units from Sdis 40, 10 from Sdis Gironde and a column of sappers from Île-de-France are present. Twenty gendarmes are also in the area to secure the perimeter. A departmental operational center was opened to coordinate operations and the prefect of Landes, Françoise Tahéri, went there.

State services indicated that, as a precaution, around fifteen homes were evacuated “in good conditions”. In total, 40 people were able to reach the homes of relatives, family or friends.

The prefecture also specifies that the RD 651 between Mano and Hostens and the RD 316 between Mano and Saint-Symphorien are closed. As the intervention is in progress, it is strongly advised to avoid the area, which is particularly dangerous.
