1 – Cold colors
Cold colors are relaxing: they are therefore perfectly suited to the bedroom, which is a space primarily dedicated to rest. Only, here it is: by definition, cold colors are… cold! Not great, for creating a cozy atmosphere in winter! If your room could use a little makeover, now is the time to repaint it!
To combine warmth and serenity, consider the palette of browns. Associated with stability and the earth, brown creates a reassuring atmosphere. Not so neutral, it is elegant and it works just as well in a bohemian bedroom as in a neo-ethnic, classic or contemporary atmosphere.
2 – The cotton bed set
To face the cold and the gray weather, choose soft and warm bed linen. So we put away our pretty floral cotton percale sets until the nice weather returns, and we bring out a cozier set!
The linen duvet cover remains an option, favoring warm colors: terracotta, brown or ocher. However, the flannel set remains the preferred choice in winter. If you like to stick to trends, adopt a tartan pattern or a minimalist graphic print.
3 – White light bulbs
Light bulbs radically change the atmosphere of the bedroom. White light is, for example, cold light: average, for an intimate and warm bedroom!
To warm the room in winter, we first use warm light bulbs. This also applies to light garlands!
4 – Light curtains
The transparent sheer curtains allow light to pass through while preserving privacy in the room. In winter, however, they are a little too light.
Velvet curtains are a preferred choice in winter. The trendy option is corduroy. Very thick curtains are particularly useful to block out drafts when the quality of the window leaves something to be desired.
5 – Wall decorations made from plant fibers
Jute, raffia or palm leaves give a little exotic and very natural air to the decor of the room. These plant fibers are, however, more suited to a summer atmosphere.
In winter, we prefer warmer wall decorations: monochrome canvas in warm colors or cozy landscape, depending on the look of the room.
6 – The very refined headboard
The headboard helps keep you warm in winter, since it insulates the bed from the wall. A very refined model may seem attractive to fans of minimalism. However, this is not the ideal model for enjoying a cozy bedroom in winter!
The cozy option is the padded headboard. Contrary to popular belief, the velvet headboard is not exclusively reserved for the classic chic bedroom: it is also available in a modern version. However, you may prefer other textiles, such as wool or tweed.
7 – The kilim rug
The carpet is our best ally for enjoying a cocooning bedroom! But if you’ve fallen for the kilim rug, it’s not necessarily the most appropriate this winter! With its flat weave, it is in fact more suitable for the summer season.
It is better to choose a very thick carpet: tufted carpet or long pile carpet.
8 – The light quilt
The airy quilt adds a touch of refinement to the bedroom decor. In winter, we replace it with a warmer model and, here again, velvet is our best ally.
As a complement – or as an alternative, think about a faux fur throw!
9 – Exotic plants
Trendy, Monstera-type indoor plants! They introduce a lot of freshness into the decor. A little too much in winter! So we don’t hesitate to move them until spring.
Books, scented candle with a comforting smell, and a small space on which to place your cup of tea, chocolate or coffee: take advantage of the space saved to transform the bedroom into a 100% chill space!
