1 – Take into account the dimensions of the room
Praise of simplicity, the minimalist bedroom involves making radical choices in terms of furniture. But before even determining which pieces you are going to select and which ones you are going to eliminate, it is essential to take into account the particularities of the piece.
In a very small bedroom, the headboard may be one of the elements that it is wise to remove. If it is possible to eliminate it, purely and simply, a headboard made up of a strip of wallpaper or a pattern painted on the wall is a very decorative alternative, ideal for giving character to the room.
In a room of large dimensions, opting for a minimum of elements constitutes an interesting bias to sublimate the volumes. For this to work, the room must remain warm. We then focus on wood – especially parquet – and on textiles.
The pieces of furniture that you integrate must above all be perfectly proportioned to the room. In this very trendy minimalist bedroom, we preferred a chest of drawers to a wardrobe.
2 – Select smart furniture
Nothing like clutter to break the charm of a minimalist bedroom! If we therefore reduce the number of elements in the room, there is no question of ignoring the practical aspect.
The low bed inspired by the Japanese futon is an excellent choice for a minimalist bedroom… especially when it has discreet storage!
The combined pouf and storage box remains a safe bet for having discreet storage in the bedroom.
Storage boxes slipped under the bed or on the wardrobe or pretty pieces of basketry are other smart solutions for having a very orderly minimalist bedroom.
3 – Boho, hygge, neo-Scandinavian: choose your side!
Certainly, in the minimalist room, it is a question of going to the essential. However, there is no question of ignoring style, quite the contrary!
With its clean design, the contemporary style is ideal for a minimalist bedroom. In order to create a cocoon effect, favor natural luminous or slightly muted shades, and bet on cozy textiles.
Sublimated by a black and white graphic duo and enhanced by a very current line art motif, the minimalist bedroom is not afraid to display a resolutely arty character.
Bamboo, wicker and a touch of plant decoration: here is a Zen and very natural minimalist bedroom, which invites you to serenity as much as to travel.
All it takes is a distressed-looking rug, pottery and a raw wooden bench for the minimalist bedroom to take on a very rustic chic look.
4 – Raise your colors
We readily imagine the minimalist bedroom in a neutral and bright palette, and it is true that it works. However, color is an option!
As sober as it is bright, white seems ideal for a minimalist bedroom. To make it more cocooning, we don’t hesitate to cheat a little, playing with slightly broken nuances.
The trend, however, is towards warm or slightly muted neutrals: beige, ecru or greige. We do not hesitate to combine them, in order to give a little relief to the decor.
Still very current, browns work wonderfully in the minimalist bedroom. We dare to wake them up by adding an original touch: here, we opted for a strip of copper paint.
This year, the color invites itself again in our interiors, and yes: it works perfectly in the minimalist room, to which it even gives a strong personality. We prefer cool colors, which create a more peaceful sleeping environment.
If you love warm colors, choose earthy shades such as brick, terracotta or ocher yellow, which are more peaceful. Adopt them in small touches, possibly using a cold color to balance the decor.
5 – Choose a strong piece
The minimalist bedroom is distinguished by its sobriety. If you want to give it character, bet on a strong piece.
In a minimalist room with a Zen or bohemian spirit, opt for wall decoration, favoring an artisanal creation.
For a more sophisticated atmosphere, play with the furniture to add a precious touch. Depending on the space you have, you can opt for the dressing table, chest of drawers or bedside table in walnut and brass – a very trendy duo.
A minimalist bedroom that changes personality according to your current mood? Nothing could be simpler, just bet on bed linen! In a frame of great sobriety, you can dare everything in terms of colors and prints.
6 – Bet on art and material
In a minimalist bedroom, the elements are numbered. They are therefore chosen with the greatest care, paying attention to the design, but also to the materials.
When it comes to bed linen, we happily fall for soft and delicately textured materials, such as crumpled linen or cotton gauze.
Walnut, rattan or oak: wood is a precious ally for warming up a room with minimalist decoration.
Plants are a must in the minimalist bedroom, to which they bring life. However, care should be taken to choose a variety whose foliage is in harmony with the style of decoration.
