Robert Lewandowski is and will remain a “Zjawisko” – a phenomenon: With a double pack, the Pole brought Bayern onto the road to victory against Kiev. The Munich celebrated a superior and high victory in the Champions League.
Lewandowski brought Bayern into the lead with a converted hand penalty (12th), a quarter of an hour later the striker increased with his 24th goal in the last 18th Champions League games. In the middle of the second half, Serge Gnabry sank the ball with a forceful shot to make it 3-0 (69th). Leroy Sané also contributed a goal in the 74th minute with a remarkable hit from the left flank. And shortly before the end, substitute Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting hit his head (87th). “We did relatively well,” said goalscorer Leroy Sané at DAZN, “at the back we played very calmly and showed our dominance, we were also strong in the end.”
“Bayern did well over long stretches,” said head coach Julian Nagelsmann to ARD, “even after the 5-0 win, you had the feeling that they still wanted to score,” added the coach, who was also above all else was happy about the zero match. His colleague from Ukraine, Mircea Lucescu, stated briefly: “FC Bayern are the biggest favorites in this Champions League.”

But Bayern were again ice cold that evening: It was another mistake by the Ukrainians, which Thomas Müller took advantage of with a perfect pass to Lewandowski. The Pole converted from about twelve meters hard and untenable for keeper Heorhij Buschtschan to 2-0.
From this point on, things seemed to be going better for the German record champions: On a pass from Leon Goretzka, Sané only hit the right post from the left-hand position. But shortly before the break, almost the goal: De Pena, the only non-Ukrainian in the starting line-up for the guests, came to an end on a counterattack half-left, but Neuer cleared it in world-class manner. Bayern lost concentration a bit, but a finish from Mykola Schaparenko was easily defused by the captain.
After the break, almost the connection
The 76-year-old coach of the guests, Lucescu, ordered Dynamo Kiev to do more during the break. And right after the restart, the Bayern goalkeeper had to save again, this time running out against Tsygankov.
But Munich rallied: Kimmich failed after a nice combination from near the penalty spot, Sané put the ball a bit too far in front of him a little later. As a result, Gnabry forgave after Alphonso Davies flank with a head. And then the 3-0: from a counter-attack situation, Sané Gnabry sent half right on the journey, and he executed it at full speed with a bang under the bar of the Ukrainian goal.

But that’s not all: Bayern continued to play and seemed to develop even more hunger for goals as the game continued. And the spectators, who were able to applaud with enthusiasm over and over again that evening, were spoiled once more with football: Sané apparently started a flank on the left flank after carefully assessing the advancement of the teammates. But with a no-look shot on goal, the national player duped the opposing goalkeeper. “No, it wasn’t on purpose,” said Sané honestly after the game, “I wanted to cross. I was lucky.” Choupo-Moting set the final point after a precisely fitting cross from Benjamin Pavard with a powerful header.
Bayern against Frankfurt, Kiev in the top duel against Donetsk
In the league, Bayern are now playing at home against Eintracht Frankfurt (03.10.21, 5.30 p.m.), internationally it will only continue in three weeks, then the Munich team will be guests at Benfica Lisbon (20.10.21, 9.00 p.m.). Kiev has the top duel against Donetsk on Sunday.
