4,974 patients are currently in intensive care in France due to Covid-19, more than the peak reached during the second wave, with 4,903 patients on November 16. This figure is still far from the peak of the first wave, however, with 7,019 patients on April 8.

Note that each of these two previous peaks had been reached several weeks after the implementation of containment at the national level, which has not (yet?) Been decided at present for France. The government nevertheless warned that new measures could be put in place in the coming days depending on the evolution of the health crisis.

90% occupancy of intensive care beds

Including Covid patients and others, nearly 9 out of 10 intensive care beds (6,833 out of 7,665 as of March 26) are currently occupied in France, according to other figures communicated by the Ministry of Health.

In two separate stands at the JDD and at World, hospital doctors have alerted to this filling of resuscitations, fearing that this would force them to sort the patients for lack of a sufficient number of beds to accommodate them all. In addition to the only intensive care services, which receive the most serious cases, 28,322 Covid patients are currently hospitalized in the country, according to Public Health France.
