The information came from the USA to Saarland via the BKA. In the fight against the spread of child pornography, police officers were deployed several times. There are 51 suspects.

The police in Saarland says it has succeeded in striking a blow against the spread of child pornography. The state police headquarters in Saarbrücken said that 47 homes and workplaces in 22 cities and municipalities were searched in several operations over the past three weeks. Child pornography material was seized on IT devices, but also on printouts. A total of 533 items would now be evaluated.

The Saarbrücken public prosecutor’s office is investigating a total of 51 suspects. The youngest is 14 years old and the oldest is 70 years old. There are also three women among them. Some of the suspects were already known to the police, it was said.

According to the police, the background to the actions was, among other things, information from the “National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)” in the USA. This reports criminal content, particularly child pornography, on the Internet worldwide. The information relating to Germany would be passed on to the police in the federal states via the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA).

The police said the suspect, a 14-year-old, was believed to have handled the relevant representations carelessly. Children and young people often carelessly shared banned images and videos without realizing that they were child pornographic content and that they were committing a criminal offense.
