44 survivors of the “Ocean Viking” will be expelled from French territory, announces Gérald Darmanin to the Assembly

At least 44 of the 230 survivors of the humanitarian ship Ocean Viking landed in Toulon last week will be deported to their country of origin, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on Tuesday.

Among these people who were the subject of a diplomatic showdown between Paris and Rome after being fished out of the Mediterranean, “44 are now seeing” their asylum request refused and “will be returned as soon as their condition of health” will allow it, explained the minister during the session of questions to the government, explaining that the study of the files was still in progress.
