40 years of the Passau executioner’s hatchet – Bavaria

The executioner’s hatchet is one of the most prestigious German-language cabaret awards. In 1983 it was awarded for the first time in the Passau Executioner’s House. The winner back then was the young Hape Kerkeling. Over the past 40 years, greats like Urban Priol and Günter Grünwald, Luise Kinseher and Torsten Sträter have gone home with martial trophies. The organizers guarantee the winners the opportunity to perform at their own venue and in Munich. Walter Landshuter, 78, founded the cabaret and the prize together with Edgar Liegl. The 40th competition will take place on December 6th. Kerkeling and Bruno Jonas are on the jury this year. A conversation with Landshuter about concerns about young talent and what he expects from good cabaret.
