36-year-old man detained for murder of Reynier Silegas Martinez

Two men were indicted on Friday after the murder of Reynier Silegas Martinez, a Latin jazz performing artist from Toulouse whose body was discovered on the evening of November 28 at his home. The first suspect, a 36-year-old man of Brazilian origin, is being charged with murder and theft. He was taken into custody. The second, aged 27, is indicted only for “concealment of theft” and has been released under judicial supervision.

The exact circumstances of the death of the 43-year-old artist, of Cuban origin and who led a vocal ensemble, still remain to be clarified. His body showed signs of blows to the head and a strangulation link was found at the scene. But the autopsy was unable to determine the exact date or cause of death. Investigators from the criminal brigade are still awaiting the results of “ongoing examinations”, indicates the Toulouse public prosecutor’s office.

One of the hypotheses is that the main suspect returned to the scene of the crime to rob his victim.
