Comeback for “The Nanny”? There are apparently reunion plans for the 30th anniversary. But the Hollywood strike is still standing in the way.

“The Nanny” could soon have a TV comeback. Leading actress Fran Drescher (65) is very interested in a reunion for the 30th anniversary of the series in November, as she said in an interview. The actress, who played legendary nanny Fran Fine on the 1990s sitcom, said on SiriusXM’s “Julie Mason Show”.that there are already plans for this. However, she explained that the current Hollywood writers’ strike has made things a little more complicated.

Before the strike began, according to Fran Drescher, there were talks “to find out what we can do so that the fans have fun and it’s exciting”. After the strike, you can think again about what a “nanny” reunion could look like, the 65-year-old said. “We have a lot of options on the table and we’re kind of open to everyone,” she added on the show. Will this result in more than a one-time reunion?

Rumors have persisted for years

There have been rumors of a revival of “The Nanny” for years. According to media reports, the cast met again in Drescher’s house in 2016. Four years later came Drescher, Charles Shaughnessy (68), Daniel Davis (77), Lauren Lane (62), Renée Taylor (90), Nicholle Tom (45), Benjamin Salisbury (42), Madeline Zima (37) and others during the pandemic together for a zoom reading of their first episode. Drescher is also working on a musical adaptation of the show.

The series ran from 1993 to 1999. Drescher played an eccentric saleswoman who looks after the three children of wealthy Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy). Fran finds an ally in the Sheffield household in Niles (Daniel Davis), the family butler. The two share a deep dislike for Maxwell’s longtime business partner, CC Babcock (Lauren Lane).
