3 solutions to collect rainwater in the garden

With gutters

Rainwater is usually collected through gutters. These collect all the rainwater collected by the roof, which can represent significant volumes. The water must then be channeled to a storage element which can be a cistern or a tank on the surface or buried. The buried tank makes it possible to have an invisible water storage and does not occupy space in the garden. It can be connected directly to the gutters with pipes, which are also buried.

It is also possible to opt for a flexible tank to slide under a terrace.

You should know that whatever the system used to recover rainwater, it is not necessary to place the tank in the immediate vicinity of the collection system. You can, in fact, place the tank further away, near a greenhouse or squares in your garden. Water can be conveyed there without resorting to a pump, and this, by using a system of communicating vessels.

Without gutters

You can collect rainwater even if you don’t have gutters. To do this, simply create a surface large enough to capture as much rainwater as possible. The surface should be flat or slightly inclined to a spill point to which you connect a hose or directly to your tank or cistern.

The easiest way to create this surface is to lay down a sturdy tarp between several wooden or iron stakes planted in the ground. This device has the advantage of being temporaryso you can remove it during the dry season and reclaim the land it occupied.

With a rainwater collector

the rainwater collector is a ready-to-use system. This is the solution the simplest and most practical, because the recuperator is usually installed by the technicians of the manufacturer or the seller. It is also the most aesthetic solution, because the recuperators are generally covered on the outside with wood or bricks to blend perfectly into the facade of your house. Collectors are also connected to gutters or another rainwater collection system such as a tarpaulin.
