Netflix has released the first trailer for “3 Body Problem”. The new science fiction adventure from the makers of “Game of Thrones” is considered one of the series highlights of the year.

It is considered one of the highlight series of the new year: “3 Body Problem” from the “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and DB Weiss is the film adaptation of the science fiction novel “The Three Suns” by Chinese author Liu Cixin – the first part of a trilogy.

Birds falling from the sky and warlike battle scenarios

The first trailer that Netflix has now released raises many questions. You learn that more and more scientists in the world are dying, murdered by someone or something that is out to get them. “They want our most capable and resourceful,” the new clip says. Also: “They’re on their way. And there’s nothing they can do to stop them.” However, we do not find out who is meant by “they”.

And the streaming provider’s official series description also largely speaks in riddles. It reads as follows: “The fateful decision of a young woman in China in the 1960s causes oscillations through space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present. As the laws of nature unravel before their eyes, five former colleagues come together, to confront the greatest threat to humanity.”

Liu Cixin’s book, however, reveals more. Here, too, the plot begins in China in the 1960s and follows astrophysicist Ye Wenjie, who is working on a secret research project on the subject of extraterrestrial life in space. Years later, Wenjie actually manages to make contact with aliens from a planet called Trisolaris. Since their life on the planet is threatened, they see Earth as a potential new home. But they probably don’t want to share it with people, as the trailer suggests. Birds falling from the sky, warlike battle scenarios and images of a futuristic future in ruins suggest that years later there will be a conflict with the earth’s inhabitants.

“3 Body Problem” from the “Game of Thrones” makers: Most expensive Netflix production of all time

The images alone are impressive, and thanks to the budget of $200 million, they appear authentic and spectacular. “3 Body Problem” is the most expensive Netflix production of all time. The cast is also impressive: international stars like Liam Cunningham and John Bradley, who are already known from the hit series “Game of Thrones,” as well as “Marvel” star Benedict Wong and “Mulan” actress Rosalind Chao are in “3 Body Problem” is included.

The first season of “3 Body Problem” starts on March 21, 2024 on Netflix.
