There were also fan protests against an investor in the 2nd Bundesliga games on Sunday German Football League (DFL). The game between 1. FC Nürnberg and 1. FC Kaiserslautern was threatened to be canceled at times.

After 13 minutes, numerous Franconian fans ran into the interior of the stadium behind the goal with banners. The police responded and also moved into the interior. Referee Michael Bacher discussed the matter with the police on the sidelines and the game continued after more than a quarter of an hour. The game had already started seven minutes later because of the throwing of tennis balls from 1. FC Kaiserslautern’s block.

The DFL wants to collect one billion euros from a financial investor for a percentage share of the TV revenue. When the 36 professional clubs voted on the deal, the necessary two-thirds majority was only barely achieved. Many fans have been protesting in the stadiums for weeks, mainly by throwing objects against entry, and games are repeatedly interrupted.

The match at SV Elversberg also had a delayed start. In front of the VfL Osnabrück fans’ guest block, a safety net was not properly attached, which was apparently connected to a protest banner from the fans. Immediately after the kick-off, which was around 15 minutes late, the first tennis balls flew from the guest block onto the lawn. The game was then stopped for four minutes.

FC St. Pauli played its home game at the Millerntor against Eintracht Braunschweig without interruptions, the league leaders won 1-0 (1-0). Nuremberg drew 1-1 (0-1) with Lautern and the game was able to continue as normal after the incidents. Elversberg showed no weaknesses in the 3-1 (3-0) win against bottom team VfL Osnabrück.
