FC Schalke 04 is drawing the consequences from the sporting misery. A coach other than Thomas Reis should get the Bundesliga relegated team back on track.

Second division football team FC Schalke 04 wants to start looking for a successor to the head coach who is on leave Give Thomas Reis time. According to sports director André Hechelmann, there have not yet been any discussions with suitable candidates.

“Of course we also have a list and an idea for possible coaches,” said Hechelmann after parting ways with Reis. “We will intensify the search starting this afternoon.”

According to Hechelmann, it is possible that interim coach Matthias Kreutzer, together with assistant coach Mike Büskens, will remain responsible for the team beyond Friday’s game at SC Paderborn. “Due to the regulations, it is possible for Matthias to look after the team for 15 working days,” said Hechelmann. This could also include the following game against fellow relegated Hertha BSC on October 8th.

Sports director Peter Knäbel also pointed out the club’s financial difficulties with a view to finding a new coach. “We won’t be able to pay millions in transfer fee. But we will find a very good coach within our means,” said Knäbel.
