Hamburger SV suffered another setback in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Hamburger SV suffered another setback in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Coach Tim Walter’s team was unable to benefit from the blunders of the competition on matchday 13 and lost to newly promoted 1. FC Magdeburg 2:3 (0:1) on Sunday. More than the connecting goals from Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer (58th minute) and Tom Sanne (90+3) were not possible for HSV. Mo El Hankouri (11′), Baris Atik (51′) and Julian Rieckmann (88′) scored for the guests coached by former HSV coach Christian Titz.

As a result, HSV remained without a win in October and is still in third place. On Friday and Saturday, first-placed Darmstadt 98 and second-placed SC Paderborn only drew. Due to the point losses of the top teams, 1. FC Heidenheim and Fortuna Düsseldorf moved closer to the promotion places.

Fourth-placed Heidenheim defeated SpVgg Greuther Fürth 3-1 (2-0) and are only two points behind HSV. Düsseldorf won 2-0 (2-0) at Karlsruher SC and jumped to sixth place in the table. Fortuna is five points behind HSV.
