2nd Bundesliga: Hamburger SV against Fortuna Düsseldorf: 1: 1, 10th matchday – 2nd Bundesliga – football

Robert Glatzel scored on Saturday (October 16, 2021) for the HSV to take the lead (19th minute), Robert Bozenik equalized (71st). Edgar Prib had not been on the field for a long time, the Düsseldorf midfielder had seen the red card after 25 minutes.

For Hamburg, the sixth draw felt like a defeat, especially in view of the numerical superiority – the Düsseldorfers were much more satisfied. In the table, however, the point helps both teams little – the Hamburg team are sixth, Christian Preusser’s team with three points less twelfth.

Conceded goal and red in just five minutes

The initial phase of the game belonged to the guests who, despite the so far rather weak season, showed themselves to be quite self-confident. With the first opportunity of their own, the effective Hamburgers then got the lead straight away. Glatzel loaded the pomadig defending Dragos Nedelcu and scored in the penalty area to make it 1-0. Four minutes later, Prib reached the middle line completely unnecessarily and hit Tim Leibold with the sole just below the knee. After Christian Dingert initially warned him, the referee looked at the scene again on the sidelines and then decided – absolutely justifiable – to be sent off.

This meant that the Düsseldorf team was completely taken out of the game for the time being. Hamburg now controlled the match without taking too much risk or creating opportunities. How frustrated the Fortunas were, was shown, among other things, in a frustration foul by the otherwise so level-headed Rouwen Hennings shortly before the break.

Narey forgives – but wakes Fortuna

In the second 45 minutes, the picture was initially the same. Hamburg calm and controlled, the Fortuna hardly dangerous. Only the agile ex-Hamburg resident Khaled Narey caused a stir with his rides over to the right of an old place of work. After 58 minutes, however, Narey’s nerves failed. After a great sprint over 50 meters, he emerged free in front of the goal, but then decided on the cross pass to Hennings who had run with him – the ball was not accurate enough and Jonas Meffert, who also rushed back, saved in the last second. Narey could have put the ball in the goal himself.

But the people of Düsseldorf were awake again and the people of Hamburg had to be reproached for their passivity. After a cross from Narey, the substitute Felix Klaus had a flash of inspiration at the near post twenty minutes before the end and put the heel down – the substitute Bozenik scored from close range to equalize (71.). In the closing stages, both teams still had decent opportunities to score the winning goal. Hamburg were closer, but in the end it was a fair draw.
