2G or 3G for cruises: only with vaccination on the ship? – Trip

Aida: With the start of the winter season, only vaccinated people are allowed on the ships of the Aida fleet. The Aida Sol will begin on October 16, the other ships will follow successively. There are no exceptions for children under the age of twelve in the Caribbean, Orient or Norway destinations, so family holidays with children are canceled. Those who have recovered from Corona are not equated with those who have been vaccinated. Even those who have recovered must have received a vaccination dose before or after recovery. Regardless of vaccinations, corona tests are still planned before the start of the trip and, depending on the route, also during the trip.

MSC: The discussion about 2G or 3G does not take place at MSC. The company relies on its health protocol, which has been in force for a year and has proven itself. Passengers are tested immediately before embarkation, only those with negative tests are allowed on board. In addition, a fever is measured daily during the cruise and tested regularly.

TUI Cruises: Tui Cruises’ strategy has proven to be flexible. Only vaccinated and convalescent people are allowed on board on four ships: on the My ship 6 in Dubai, the My ship 1, currently on the move in the North and Baltic Seas as well as on the My ship 2 and the My ship 3 in the Canary Islands. On the other hand, the My ship 4, who is also on the move in Canarian waters, welcomes not only those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated but also those who have been tested.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises: From autumn onwards, Hapag-Lloyd also applies: only vaccinated people are allowed on board. That’s the beginning MS Europe 2, which departs from Mallorca on October 3rd, heading for Tenerife.

Hurtigruten: On the postal shipping line – as with entry to Norway – 2G applies. 3G applies to Hurtigruten Expeditions.

In principle, the regulations in the target areas apply. For example, the US epidemic protection agency CDC only allows fully vaccinated people to enter a ship in US ports, regardless of which hygiene concept the European providers offer in domestic waters.
