27GR93U and 32GR93U: LG brings 4K monitors with 144 Hz and HDMI 2.1

LG launches two new monitors for office work and especially gaming. The Ultragear 27GR93U and 32GR93U come in the well-known formats with 27-inch and 31.5-inch panels. The special feature: The resolution is given as 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels), while the panels can work with 144 Hz.

LG also relies on IPS here. The technology has the advantage that it has better pixel response times compared to the cheaper VA. Ghosting and streaks during fast movements should therefore be reduced. Compared to OLED panels, which are also fast, the IPS monitors should also shine brighter. LG specifies a luminosity of 400 cd/m². IPS monitors also don’t have to deal with burn-in and other OLED disadvantages.

Typical for IPS, the contrast is relatively low at 1000:1. However, the monitors should cover 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, which would also make them suitable for image processing. The displays are connected via Displayport 1.4. Two HDMI 2.1 sockets are also available. There are also two USB-A ports that can be used for peripheral devices, for example.

Height adjustable and pivot

The monitors can be adjusted in height by 110 mm and tilted by 20 degrees. In addition, a rotation of 90 degrees for use in portrait mode (pivot) is possible. However, the stand cannot be turned on the spot. Alternatively, customers can connect the panels to a Vesa mount (100 x 100 mm).

LG already sells the Ultragear monitors in 27 and 31.5 inches in its own online shop. The 27GR93U costs 550 euros. The 31.5-inch 32GR93U is slightly more expensive at 700 euros. The relatively low prices come from a factory discount of 12 to 15 percent.
