This is the biggest jackpot in the history of EuroMillions, since the launch of the lottery in 2004. The winner won, this Friday, 240 million euros, announced the Française des jeux (FDJ).
The lucky person has not completed their grid in France, however, specifies the FDJ. The magic numbers were 17, 30, 42, 48, 50 and the check stars 4 and 8.
Previous record of 230 million euros
The old record stood at 230 million euros, in July 2022. A Briton won it then. On Tuesday, no one had found the numbers for the jackpot of 217 million euros. It was therefore put back into play this Friday, to the delight of the lucky owner of the winning ticket.
In October 2021, a young French woman won 220 million euros, filling her very first EuroMillions grid in Tahiti. If these sums make more than one dream, our colleagues from BFMTV point out that the chances of winning them are, however, very limited. According to them, a EuroMillions player has approximately one chance in 140 million of pocketing the jackpot, while the risk of being bitten by a shark is… one in five million.
